The Airbnb of Manufacturing Technology On-demand manufacturing?

Need faster product development cycles?

Dave Evans co-founded Fictiv, a new on-demand manufacturing startup, after becoming frustrated with long manufacturing product cycles while working in Ford’s Silicon Valley lab. Fictiv “matches customers who need rapidly produced parts and prototypes with a network of idle machinery to develop a product and get it produced—reducing lead times from weeks and months to hours and days. The start-up has a vetted network of hundreds of manufacturers worldwide, including machine shops and 3-D printing facilities, tied together by software. It also provides engineering and fabrication support for those struggling to get their parts the way they want them,” reports Forbes, which named Fictiv “the Airbnb of manufacturing.”

To help manufacturers achieve new efficiencies, Evans will present Manufacturing Technology: Accelerating Design Cycles at MT360, a new event connecting manufacturers to the software developers and investors of Silicon Valley, taking place May 12 – 14, 2020, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, Calif. MT360 is targeting startups with emerging technologies that can enhance and change the way manufacturing will take place in the future.

Evans will discuss new manufacturing tools available to accelerate product design cycles, rapidly scale production to meet demand, and create agility in supply chains. “I plan to share several case studies of some really innovative product companies,” says Evans. “Attendees will gain a better understanding of how intelligent manufacturing software is a valuable tool in the design process and how to utilize distributed manufacturing networks for higher quality, more agile supply chains.”

“Manufacturing is about taking a digital design and turning that idea into a physical product,” says Evans. “Technology and manufacturing must work hand in hand to drive the next generation of manufacturing tools that enable rapid, responsive product development.”

“MT360 provides a forum for top technology providers to share disruptive technologies that companies can utilize today,” he says. [Connect with Dave Evans via Twitter (@makrdave) and LinkedIn (in/evansda11).]

More on MT360
MT360 brings traditional manufacturers, non-traditional tech companies, and venture capitalists into one conference to learn about transformative technologies that will intersect all three worlds.

  • Cognitive Automation – A spectrum of AI or data-related tools that enable automation systems to sense and react to information.

  • Additive Manufacturing – Several related technologies that enable manufacturers to create complex parts and fixtures through 3D printing.

  • Augmented Reality – Technologies that use digital displays to assist with manual tasks.

  • Digital Thread – Electronic connections that allow manufacturing information to follow a product through its entire production process.

In addition to the speakers and panel discussions, MT360 will host a Virtual Factory, which will showcase companies involved in every aspect of these technologies. Attendees can visit and interact with software companies, hardware companies, complete AR-platform providers, and smart manufacturing.
