Dassault Systèmes has created 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS, a portfolio of industry applications on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform that is tailored to the needs of SOLIDWORKS customers as well as small- and mid-sized companies. The package was designed for ease-of-use and simplicity. According to Dassault representatives, 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS combines social collaboration with design, simulation, and manufacturing ERP capabilities in a single digital environment to help companies become more inventive, efficient, and responsive.

3DEXPEREINCE.WORKS was introduced at SOLIDWORKS World 2019 in Dallas. The portfolio brings together standard SOLIDWORKS applications with the goal of introducing them to a new category of users. Dassault Systèmes created 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS following its acquisition of IQMS, whose manufacturing ERP portfolio of software applications for mid-market manufacturers has since been rebranded as DELMIAWORKS.

Developments Based on Customer Pain Points

At at SOLIDWORKS World, Dassault Systemes executives noted that 3DEXPEREINCE.WORKS was developed based on customer needs. “The advances in design software in the last 20 years have been underserved in manufacturing. It’s also been costly to deploy. Most manufacturing solutions are niche solutions,” Bernard Charlès, CEO of Dassault Systèmes, told Design News. “We believe we can provide real value with a higher quality set of solutions. We’re not doing this from a market analysis; we’re doing it from customer needs.”

The 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS family now includes DELMIAWORKS, which id intended to serve mainstream manufacturers by providing a digital thread for business operations. Dassault executives explained that the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is designed to serve as a business operations benchmark for smaller manufacturers. The platform was designed to be simple, affordable, and easy to implement.

What’s Good for Manufacturing Is Good for Business

3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS is designed to offer improved collaboration, manufacturing efficiency, and business agility. The goal is that companies will be able to accomplish their work using one cohesive digital innovation environment instead of using a complex series of point solutions that require jumping between applications and interfaces. “3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS helps companies to manage their business,” said Charlès. “It helps them connect to suppliers and do cost analysis.”

3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS was designed to connect data and streamlines processes from design concept to delivery by providing dashboard templates, managed services, access to industry-focused communities and user groups, and applications specific to a variety of job roles. “The trigger for this portfolio was a desire to create a new category of solutions to address the market needs and connect all the dots,” said Charlès. “It’s more than MES; it’s also all the processes that go with business.”
